Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park promotes sustainability in the UAE

▪️  Dubai Solar Park

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, also known as Dubai Solar Park. Dubai Solar Park is located in Seih Al-Dahal region, around 50 km south of Dubai.

Interesting facts about the MBR Solar Park
▪️  It is expected to reduce 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually when complete.
▪️  An Innovation Centre, a Research and Development (R&D) Centre
▪️  3D-printed lab

Challenges

Dust accumulation on modules can adversely impact the capacity of power generation. To avoid this, panel coating is applied to the modules. Temperature fluctuations may speed up the degradation process of the photovoltaics due to its long run. Dubai sees temperatures as high as 50 degree Celsius and as low as 15 degree Celsius at night, which can increase the cost of the project during summers.

Why the Dubai Solar Park is established?
▪️  The UAE launched the Green Economy initiative for sustainable developments to make the country a global leader in the green economy, products and technologies in 2012.
▪️  The establishment of the DEWA Solar Park in Dubai is a part of a larger commitment to sustainable development projects across the UAE.
▪️  The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 has the ambitious goal of achieving an energy mix largely based on renewable and clean energy sources.

How Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park contribute to raising Dubai's position as a global hub for research and development in solar energy?
▪️  It was launched in 2012 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
▪️  One of the main pillars of this new age strategy
▪️  It may boost Dubai as a global leader in the clean and renewable energy sector.
▪️  The largest single-site solar energy project in the world, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model.
▪️  Implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). By 2030, the Dubai Solar Park is expected to produce around 5,000 MW with a total investment of AED 50 billion!

Other project operations

DUBAI SOLAR PARK DESALINATION PLANT
